Strategic advisory and business development firm MediaLink is heading to CES 2017 to expose its clients\u2014a mix of Hollywood, Silicon Valley, Madison Avenue and Wall Street\u2014to \u201cimmersion and experiences in terms of sensations in marketing,\u201d according to President and COO Wenda Harris Millard.<\/p>\n

If that\u2019s not enough, there also will be disruption, the kind that is sweeping the video and television business and which MediaLink Chairman and CEO Michael Kassan will discuss on stage with media executive Barry Diller.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will have many other programs that focus on sensation,\u201d Millard says in an interview with Beet.tv. \u201cLots of client meetings, lots of panels and our own immersive experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among other challenges, MediaLink clients are \u201ctrying to get their arms around\u201d the ever-changing video sector, according to Millard.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt does seem very overwhelming with all the opportunities, but they are opportunities and markers are decidedly interested in being where their audiences are,\u201d says Millard. \u201cIt\u2019s almost an imperative for them to play in this new video environment and to figure out what works for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Experiences and sensations involving virtual and augmented reality will be a particular focus at CES, even though \u201conly a small sliver\u201d of consumers has been exposed to these technologies, according to Millard<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike many things in this world, the East Coast and West Coast have a little bit of a lead in terms of what\u2019s new,\u201d says Millard. \u201cI think the rest of the country in this particular case is probably not very up to speed on VR or AR.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, she thinks it\u2019s important for marketers to understand such emerging technologies.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think CES<\/a> at large is a great opportunity for us not to necessarily focus on the technology itself buy the change in consumer behavior that\u2019s facilitated by technology,\u201d Millard adds. \u201cAnd then look at the implications for our business and the potential applications.\u201d<\/p>\n

With virtual reality alone Millard sees \u201cquite extraordinary\u201d opportunities, citing sectors like education, health and entertainment.<\/p>\n

\u201cExactly what that is and how we reach the mass audiences that so many marketers need, that\u2019s all to come,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
